Alabama is home to a wonderful array of one of a kind places that truly cannot be found anywhere else.  Andrew Schoolnik’s travels throughout the state has brought him to these very unique places.  Some of these sites are in big cities while others are found deep in the countryside.  All of them are worth finding.  Bring your camera and your note pad.

Like many states, Alabama has many incredible places to visit.  These are not museums, and other places that a travel guide would lead one to.  Instead, these are places that one must seek out.  Frequently, they are difficult to find but well worth the effort.  Often times, the search leads to more exciting discoveries.

Dauphin Island is in the Gulf of Mexico and has a seafaring culture.  Muscle Shoals along the Tennessee River is a haven for music.  Auburn and Tuscaloosa are educational centers.  The Civil War and Civil Rights Movement is part of Montgomery’s history.  There are Creek Indian War sites spread throughout the state, also.  Alabama is a place of history.

He has found ancient trees; trees that are almost as old as the nation.  He has discovered a historical marker for Pat Garrett, with his accompanying horse.  He has also visited one of the most significant Indian Mound parks in North America.
